Paris

Bachelor degree:

French public universities are usually designed to last up to 3-4 years. A degree usually takes 4 to 5 years to complete, while an academic bachelor is 3 years long, in most countries. Although this is not always a general rule. Bachelor’s degrees exist in almost every country in the world. The study programs mainly lead to degrees such as Bachelor of Science (BSc), Bachelor of Arts (BA) and Bachelor of Law (LL.B.), Bachelor of Business (B.BA), amongst others.

Master degree:

Master’s (M1, M2) is a graduate degree awarded after a period of study lasting 2 years (a total of 5 years of study). A doctorate is awarded after a period of study lasting 16 semesters (3 years, or a total of 8 years of study).

International students will pay between €2,770 and €3,770 per year for a bachelor’s degree at public universities. Master’s programs may cost from €3,770 to €10,700 annually. Nevertheless, certain specialized or private institutions tend to be slightly more expensive.

Private universities – Tuition fees start at 1,500 EUR and can go over 20,000 EUR per year.

At business schools, regardless of the degree level, fees range between 5,000 and 30,000 EUR a year.

For undergraduate programs, a minimum GPA of 2.5 or above on a 4.0 scale is usually expected. For postgraduate programs, a GPA of 3.0 or higher may be required. And TOEFL, PTE, Duolingo, etc.

The average monthly rent for the university residence halls varies based on the city. While it is around 400 Euros in Paris, it can be around 200 Euros in other French cities.

Shared apartments

Students can share a flat or apartment with two or more students. They can also share the rent and utilities for the flat. However the disadvantages of flatshares are their location, they may be far from your campus, lack of privacy, and difficulties in adjusting with your flatmates.

Private rentals

Most cities in France offer private apartments to students. Though this option is more expensive than others but certainly offers more advantages. You can rent a studio apartment if you wish to live alone. You will have an independent life. These apartments are usually far away from the campus. The average monthly rental for a private apartment can be around 800 Euros in a city like Paris and around 400 Euros in other cities.

Students in France can look for part-time jobs and can work part-time for 964 hours annually, which is 20 hours per week on a student visa in France. In case you are in a 6-month program, you are allowed to work 472 work hours. International students are paid a minimum wage of EUR 7.61 (INR 680), but this varies job-wise. This way, students can earn a minimum of EUR 7,900 (INR 7,10,380) a year by working part-time. EUR 21 (INR 1,890), hourly. EUR 20 – 27 (INR 1,800 – 2,430), hourly.
