About SAT

SAT (Scholastic Assessment Test) is one of the most important admissions tests in the United States that evaluate critical reading, writing, and math skills. The standardized test is widely used for university/college admissions in the United States. Originally, the SAT used to called the Scholastic Aptitude Test, later it was called the Scholastic Assessment Test, then the SAT I: Reasoning Test, and now the SAT only. The SAT’s purpose is to measure a high school student’s readings for undergraduate studies, and it serves as a common comparative data point to admission committees for comparison of all applicants. Types of SAT

The SAT is divided into TWO types. They are the SAT General Test and the SAT Subject Test.

Reading, Writing, and Language

Reading texts will test students’ ability to understand how words matter in shaping, and writing and how informational graphics and the passage are connected. Math

The SAT Math updated version is digital SAT Math that is designed to be more comprehensive and rigorous, and to better prepare students for college/university level mathematics. Emphasis on data analysis is given and the use of real word problems. The digital SAT Math also contains multiple choice questions. In the new version of SAT, it doesn’t have two sections but one section and two modules. The 2nd module is based on the first module’s performance. The math test focuses on key elements of algebra are Problem solving and Data-analysis, Advance math, Geometry, and Trigonometry. The force is on algebra and advanced math.

The SAT is a test owned and developed by the college-board for undergraduate admissions in US universities. The SAT is principally a requirement for admission into good universities. First, the Student will attempt the Reading and Writing section and a ten-minute break is given before the start of the Math section.

How to register for the SAT Exam in Nepal?

Just like other exams, you can apply online. In some cases, there’s an option to apply via email. The below information will help you apply for the SAT Exam both online and by email.

ONLINE REGISTRATION:

Create a new profile on the College Board website and register yourself.
Fill in the SAT application form on the website.
Create a student profile.
Once you fill in all the necessary details, you will be asked to choose the test date and test center of your convenience.
Upload your photo on the form.
Submit your application after the payment of online exam fee. If you do not have an international credit card, you can use the services provided by local banks to make the payment.

The SAT exam fee in Nepal for non-US regions is $49, making the total SAT fee $101 (NRS 12,000). The SAT exam with an essay is $68 with a non-regional charge. Lastly, the total charge for the SAT exam with the essay is $117 (NRS 14,000).

How long do SAT scores stay valid?

The SAT score are valid for five years from the date that they were taken and it can be used for university/college applications in the given period. Make sure to look up the universities/college policies as they prefer more scores.

Retaking the SAT

Applicants who are not happy with their scores can retake the SAT as many times as they want. But while planning for another retake exam, think about the university application deadlines, the amount of time you have left, and the changes you want to achieve. How do I get my test results to colleges?

Your SAT result can be sent to college through the College Board’s Reporting Service. You will get four free score reports, which you can send them to colleges within nine days of the test.

Canceling scores

You could cancel your SAT scores before they are released. You have to cancel it after the test date by 11:59:00 P.M. eastern time on the fifth of the month. Remember, once canceled your scores cannot be brought back or reported to any colleges/ universities you may have applied to. Make sure that you have made up your mind before taking the next step.
